2.0.1+121 was never supposed to be a dramatic update. I only planned to fix a few translations in 120 that barely affected how the app actually worked. But while tweaking 121 at my desk, an old question started crawling back out of the corner of my mind. The little guardian angel in me, white wings and all, asked: “Are we really sure this supports all 26 languages well enough to charge people for it?” Then the other me — black tail, red horns — immediately fired back: “Come on. You’ve lost sleep for months building this thing. Just start selling it and fix things as you go. It’d be nice to make some money too. lol”

After thinking about it for a long time, I landed on one answer: tear it all apart and go back to zero. That decision turned into more than two weeks of work. I averaged about five hours of sleep a night, and most of my waking hours went straight into GoPic. There were plenty of days when I spent close to 16 hours on it. One week passed, then another… and at some point, “fixing 121” had become an entirely different project. I kept old-car restoration videos playing on YouTube and thought, “They’re rebuilding hardware; I’m rebuilding software.” So I pulled things apart one by one and rebuilt them one by one. The engine came out, the wiring got checked again, the unnecessary parts were removed, and questionable logic was rewritten from scratch.

That is how GoPic was reborn as 3.0. I’m not going to claim that 3.0 is perfect. But this time, a lot was removed, rebuilt and put back properly. Most importantly, accuracy has improved so much that comparing it directly with the previous version almost feels unfair. It may still look like the same GoPic from the outside, but under the hood it has become a very different machine.

And one more thing: I removed the free ads altogether. No, I haven’t suddenly lost interest in making money. lol It’s more that 3.0 is now organized well enough that I don’t feel the need to keep bolting extra things onto it. If this is your first time using GoPic, just assume it was always this clean. If you’ve been with us for a while, you might notice and think, “Wait… wasn’t something here before?” Now I’m heading toward 4.0. But first… I seriously need some sleep.
